- This is a three-part series of tutorial programs that
- introduces the student to the elementary concepts of Static
- Forces and Moments. The first part is on Coordinate Systems, the
- second on Vectors, and the third on Statics. This is the
- conventional approach to the subject and provides a background
- for continuing study of physics and engineering topics.
-
- The programs were written for VGA color graphics but have
- been adapted to operate automatically in EGA or CGA color or
- Hercules monographic modes, also. Each program requires 128K of
- RAM. The programs are on the executable MS-DOS files
- COORDSYS.EXE, VECTORS.EXE, and STATICS.EXE and they are run by
- typing the words COORDSYS, VECTORS, or STATICS.
-
- It has been assumed that the student is familiar with
- elementary algebra, plane geometry, and plane trigonometry.
-
- Although explained in the programs, it will be emphasized
- here that long waits have been introduced between parts of the
- programs and you are expected to override them with a return or
- space bar entry when you are ready to continue. However, most
- constructions and formula lists proceed automatically at a rate
- which is considered appropriate. Also, after each complete
- clearing of the screen (except for the very first one) typing a
- 'b' or a 'B' will return you to the previous screen. Escape from
- the program can be effected with the usual abort signal.
-
- A minimum shareware fee of $5 each ($15 for the three) is
- being asked for the programs. It is unlikely that free upgrades
- will be made available for this fee although phone or mail
- questions will be answered on a best effort basis. Notices of
- any additions to the series will be provided to those paying the
- fee.
